About Me
Animals are my lifelong passion. As a child, I adored the neighborhood dogs, but was only permitted to have rodents and reptiles as my own pets. When I was 7 years old, I took my first horseback riding lesson and found out that I was allergic to horses, but I was hooked! At age 10, I adopted a stray puppy that followed me home from my bus stop and named him Hunter, who eventually grew to be 125 pounds. That same year, I was given every little girls dream: a perfect pony named Silver Belle. At age 11, Santa gave me a Hanoverian gelding named Nattie, who I still have today. I started working at a horse farm when I was 14, and started pet sitting for friends and family at the age of 16. I graduated from Reservoir High School in Fulton, MD a year early, so that I could pursue my passion for animals at a higher level. I studied Animal Science at the University of Maryland, College Park, and graduated in 2009. In college, I was on the Board of Directors for the Equestrian Club and competed for the Equestrian Team. Go Terps!
More recently, I adopted a long haired German Shepherd named Trooper and I have two horses, Nattie and Sierra. I manage a sporthorse breeding and training stable in Clarksville, in addition to running Christie's Critter Care. This job gives me a lot of flexibility in my schedule and allow me to care for your pet(s) the same way you do. I LOVE my jobs and can't imagine doing anything else. If you still aren't convinced that I live and breathe animals, you should also know that I'm very active with my foxchasing club, Goshen Hounds, in Montgomery County. Additionally, I'm the chairman for the Maryland Spring Hunter Pace Series. In my spare time, I serve the community as a Howard County Volunteer Mounted Patrol Officer.
